DJ Zombie and Kelly's Bio
1984-1986 The early years:
DJ Zombie has been a pioneer in the DJ community since 1984. From the early days of spinning in the hole in the wall clubs in Tijuana back in the TJ heyday. During this time it was a battle of the greatest DJ. This was a time when a DJ was someone who could actually mix records together perfectly. Blending was a art form and these dj's strived to be the best at running 3 turntables, mixing, scratching, showing off the creativity and entertaining the crowd in whole new way. Freestyle, Electric Funk, Miami Bass, Old Skool, Disco and New Wave blasting at 10,000 watts was the norm. From these early days DJ Zombie learned from the best. From Joe Rodriguez San Diego's top dj in the early 80's. Jay aka DJ Zombie trained and worked with DJ Joe Rodriguez for 2 years from 1984-1986. Learning the In's and outs of Mixing and what it meant to be a real DJ.
1986-1989
Afterwards Zombie teamed Art Mendoza ( DJ Magic A) at the Legendary O's Laser Club Master working together in their first mobile DJ business and at the time Oh's was the largest nightclubs in the world! With over 5,000 party goers every Friday night the club was the place to be. Starting in 1987 Zombie mixed live On the air from the club on Q106 FM in San Diego. The show was a huge hit running for over 2 years.
1989-1991 Elite Sound Productions is born
Zombie performed as the head DJ at the Saturday Dance Party from Sea World Live on 92.5FM. This was the place to be every weekend. Zombie continued his pursuits in providing DJ service for colleges, Restaurants, private events, parties and more.
1991-1995 Zombie and Kelly join forces!
Zombie and Kelly became a team in 1991. Kelly was a instant hit with Elite's clientele. During this time frame Elite was providing DJ service to many of the key nightclubs in San Diego.These included the Red Onion, Mexican Village, Confetti's, Club Metro and more. Wedding DJ Service for Disneyland, SeaWorld and Hilton Hotel Chain.
1995-1998 Elite Sound Productions Con't
In 1995 Kelly and Zombie headed for the east coast and ran a successful entertainment business in Connecticut and New York from 1995-1998. Providing DJ Service to City Nites Nightclub. One of the premiere nightclubs in CT with over 2500 attendees every weekend. Saturday nights featured a live on air mix show on Q 105 FM live from the club. The show was one of the biggest on the air. The show featured live performances from the Cover Girls, Sweet Sensation, DJ Easy Rock and Rob Base, Duran Duran and more! Served as the exclusive Wedding DJ Service for the U.S Navy and U.S Air Force for the entire Northeast.
1998-2000 Elite Sound Productions Con't
In 1998 Kelly and Zombie brought their talents to the Midwest and rocked the minds of those who never experienced big city entertainment. Zombie became the number # 1 DJ and Voice over artist the area had ever seen. With his talent for productions and high quality work, Zombie produced over 200 Radio commercials in just 2 years. In 1998 Kelly became the top on air talent. Together they worked as MC and DJ for the Friday Night Dance Party live from Club 99 each Friday night. With a listening audience of over 20,000 and a in person crowd of over 3,000 the show was a huge hit. With a blend of Incredible mix show, Interactive and funny. During these areas Elite also served as the exclusive entertainment for the U.S Army at FT. Lewis. There Zombie and Kelly transformed Custer Hills Lanes from a 10 person a night Xtreme bowling program into the hottest night in town on Saturday nights. With a line out the door every weekend. With a exciting blend of both Retro and new House, Techno, Miami Bass and remixed rock the crowds went wild. Unique Radio ads were created and the night was open to everyone. Soon everyone wanted to see Zombie and Kelly at both Club 99 and every Saturday night.
2000-2006 Elite DJ Productions years:
Kelly and Zombie day job brought them to Seattle. Zombie aka Jason S went to work for Mr. Gates at a very big software company. You likely know it. There Elite DJ Productions provided mobile DJ service to many corporations including Microsoft, Boeing, Starbucks, Seattle Sonics, Seahawks and more! Elite also provided mobile DJ service to the U.S Army, Air Force and Navy in the northwest. Providing service members with affordable professional wedding DJ service with up to 50% off normal rates. As well as special discounts for non profit agencies. Overall Elite DJ Production provided DJ service to at over 1,000 events in Seattle during that period. This included On Air mix shows, nightclubs and Rock N Bowl ( Extreme Bowling) to leilani Lanes. Kelly and Zombie enjoyed a huge following and spent many weekends doing up to 3 shows in 1 day!
2006-Present Retro DJ Service is born
At the end of 2006 Elite DJ Productions was sold to another entertainment company . This was due to the fact that Zombie and Kelly were headed to New York City and would be leaving the northwest. A smaller operation was started in Seattle and Kelly and Zombie decided to place a refocus on the DJ business and reduce the scope of the services offered. In the last 5 previous years countless hours were spent in studio work, production, Internet Radio Mix show, Live performances and more. Along with working as full time Software Consultant, zombie had little or no time.
Elite DJ Productions was almost a little too popular. Often Kelly and Zombie would turn down work to maintain quality control over their fine tuned product. Under the new banner Retro DJ Service, Zombie and Kelly can afford to be selective of the events to perform for. Unlike most mobile DJ business Retro DJ Service is not looking to take every booking. Zombie and Kelly believe that if we are not right for the event, we will not book it.
The current focus is now on specialization in Today's Best dance music and incredible Retro Music. From Old skool, Freestyle, Electric Funk, New Wave, classic club traxs and more. This approach and style is perfect for events.

With over 25 years of Nightclub, private party and special events experience that has included some of the finest spots in the US. City Nites CT, Club Metro San Diego, Miami Beach Club, Club 99, Culture Club NYC and many more. On air mix show talent and host in CT, FL, CA, WA and London. Zombie and Kelly still bring the same intensity and passion to each and every performance and the passion of their youth with the knowledge of today into each event.
Today Retro DJ Service operates offices in New York City, Seattle, San Diego and London. DJ Zombie and MC Kelly Cane both personally peform at all locations.
